Technologists are the gateway to personalized patient care. The ARRT Standard of Ethics contains a set of professional values that cause one to act in the best interest of patients. This includes obtaining pertinent information to aid physicians and protect a patient’s right to quality care. The success of risk-based screening programs is dependent on engaged and committed technologists. It is their job to collect accurate information from patients regarding their personal and family health histories so that the patients can be directed to screening plans and interventions based on their personal risk. This is no easy task – the difference between a patient qualifying or not qualifying for supplemental screening or genetic testing could be as small as obtaining an accurate age of menarche, or the age at which a relative was diagnosed with cancer. Ms. Flint will share her experience with the launch of the Singing River Health System risk program and best practices from managing new responsibilities.

Speaker: Tina Flint, R.T.(R)(M)
